ANNIKA ꓘ. PRICKETT

Some context

I am a writer, teacher, and priestess.

Over the years, I have learned, lived, and loved in Spanish, Portuguese, and French, and I hope to add Vietnamese and Italian to my repertoire of perspectives soon.

I have 7 published translations with the collective Praça Clovis, an organization that aims to promote Brazilian literature across the globe.

I am the founder of the New Americana, a writing collective that aims to document the pulse of what it feels like to be an American as we traverse (unfortunately) unprecedented times.

My spiritual ministry is a confluence of astrology, tarot, and elemental magick.

The throughline that connects all of my work is a desire to help others come home to themselves through the medium that best speaks to their souls.

My Spanish crash course book, Abre caminos, is also in the works.

Origins

I was born in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, as Thi My Ngoc.

My name means sacred jade poetry in Vietnamese.

I don’t believe things in this life happen by accident, and my path is no different than yours in that regard.

I grew up in a small suburban town in southeastern Wisconsin, far from my ancestral roots, and my spiritual path has been a work in finding my way back.

I am trained in the old ways, in elemental magic, devotion to the old gods, hermeticism and alchemy, and in the shamanistic path.

As a healer, I know that one can only meet another as deeply as they have met themselves.

To quote a medicine woman prayer I cherish deeply, “I will not heal you for I see you in your wholeness. I will walk with you through the dark, until you remember your light.”

My mission

I believe authenticity is the currency of the new age. Through my writing, teaching, and spiritual services, I hope to build real relationships that transcend transaction and bring us back into unity with the sanctity of our humanity.

“NATURE LOVES COURAGE.

YOU WILL MAKE THE COMMITMENT AND NATURE WILL RESPOND TO THAT COMMITMENT BY REMOVING IMPOSSIBLE OBSTACLES. DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM AND THE WORLD WILL NOT GRIND YOU UNDER, IT WILL LIFT YOU UP. THIS IS THE TRICK. THIS IS WHAT ALL THESE TEACHERS AND PHILOSOPHERS WHO REALLY COUNTED, WHO REALLY TOUCHED THE ALCHEMICAL GOLD, THIS IS WHAT THEY UNDERSTOOD. THIS IS THE SHAMANIC DANCE IN THE WATERFALL. THIS IS HOW MAGIC IS DONE. BY HURLING YOURSELF INTO THE ABYSS AND DISCOVERING IT’S A FEATHER BED”

In 2025, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, Political Science, and Spanish—I’m a humanities mutt of sorts.

During my time abroad and throughout my final year of university, I unearthed a deep passion for human rights advocacy and uplifting the voices of the oppressed.

I am pursuing my Master’s degree in 2027 at la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I will be studying derechos humanos y la gobernanza (human rights and international governance).

My writing, my spiritual path, and my quest for knowledge are not separate threads of my identity, but rather an interwoven cord that connects the fabric of my very essence.

From a young age, my parents put me into Spanish classes, and consequently, I’ve been learning and loving Spanish ever since. Developing mastery in one of the Romance languages led me to discover an affinity for the rest, and thus I am on the journey of refining my French, Portuguese, and Italian, with the hopes of eventually returning to my native Vietnamese as well.

I believe that we learn languages because we have an intrinsic desire to connect.

We come from tribal cultures; we are meant to be in union with one another.

All of these different aspects- the spiritual, the linguistic, psycho-social, and political—are all different faces of humanity. I seek to do my part in reconciling the mysteries of life and to use my knowledge in the pursuit of mutual understanding and shared wisdom.
